Week8

It was shoot-time:) well, I'd never thought that shooting is an easy task, but I had no idea that it was going to be this difficult.. I enjoyed very much, but to get everything together in the right time and place really requires complete concentration and creativity and probably the most important is flexibility. we were very lucky as all the friends of Damla who we had invited could come, moreover, they dedicated a lot of effort to do their best. I appreciate it so much! To work with people who are professionals or try to be professionals:) made our job a lot easier and we had fun at the same time. Many unexpected problem came up during shooting but our major problem was to keep the time limit..

Week6

Last week as we went on thinking about the video newer newer ideas popped into our minds, the funniest one was to put a camera behind a café window which is transparent only from inside the café but reflective outside, to shoot the pedestrians using it as a mirror not even noticing/bothering about that others (and our camera!) see them inside;> Eventually, we changed our topic of the schizophrenic woman to that of the SIN. It is even more exciting! we would like a beautiful woman attepting everyone to symbolize sin. We are very lucky as Damla's best friend has just graduated as a professional actress (in Kaposvár=my hometown:) so finding someone who is able to act the main role does not mean a problem. While preparing the story board, which was due to hand in today, we had some difficulties when we tried to use the power point program to unite Damla's nice drawings and the explanations. We scanned the pictures but couldn't insert them into the slides so we skipped this idea. The space was too little under the drawings to write there so we cut them out and glued them to blank sheets leaving enough space next to them. Afterwards we photocopied these sheets but this idea failed again because the drawings did'nt look nice enough on them. So finally, we handed in the glued papers with handwriting on them --we were a bit afraid of what the feedback will be on it, but fortunately, dr. Phil liked it.
Of course, during drawing sometimes it was very hard to put the ideas on paper but Damla was so good at it!I think she managed to do it perfectly, and I also tried to write as nicely as I could as my handwriting is horrible, but to be honest I liked the outcome very much! I prefer hand-made things to machine-based ones.

Week4

This time dr. Phil was teaching us editing and we were getting familiar with the Nero program we have got on the school computers. I've never used any programs like this so it was completely new for me -but I like it, really liked very much. We individually edited, rather tried to edit the video we shot on the first lesson. I didn't find ours so I was working on Meerim's and Bob's shots, but I was too slow to make anything which would have been worth saving. I tried out as many features I could but today's lesson was that time is just passing too fast if you are dealing with editing:)

Week3

In today's class we started again with some bookish but very practical stuff: the camera moves (with the proper expressions:), the lenses -which topic is still muddles my mind, narratives, interesting things about editing -and funny editing flaws- as well as about story boards -which was good as our turn to hand in the first storyboard is approaching! after this, we were allowed to spend the whole remaining time with thinking about the story of our first film together with our pairs.
We brought up many many ideas with Damla, including funny, horrible and crazy ones:) finally, we decided to keep the idea we brought up last featuring a schizophrenic woman. It seems to be an interesting topic to deal with, and we have many ideas how to represent it on screen. The first scenes would show how she spens a usual day with shots showing her as a determined, ambitious woman as one of her characters and showing her as an artist -or actually, we've not yet decided what her other "side" will be. The conflict of the story will be a man, of course. and the way she's behaving on their date and how she as an unconsciously 'double personality' lives such a situation. We have many ideas but just as many questions and doubts about these last scenes..
